The Mc Ginley Trophy at Powerscourt Golf Club, Summer 2012
The Mc Ginley Trophy took place on Sunday August 5th at Powerscourt Golf Club in County Wicklow. Despite the rainy weather, the day was much enjoyed by all and there was some very tough competition out on the course!! Enjoy our blog post with pictures and updates from the competition.
All happy before the battle! Frank Melia & Derick Carroll of Howth Golf Club and Paul Byrne & Paul S Byrne from Skerries Golf Club who fought it out for the Mc Ginley Trophy at Powerscourt on Sunday 5th August. Sponsored by Mercury, 55 clubs took part in this four ball better ball competition over the past 3 months.
Skerries Golf Club represented by Paul Byrne & Paul S Byrne emerged as the winners of the Mercury sponsored Mc.Ginley trophy at Powerscourt. The final match against Howth Pairing Frank Melia & Derrick Carroll displayed some wonderful golf despite the unpleasant weather conditions that prevailed. The Howth pair were one down playing the 18th but a birdie 4 gave then a chance of lifting the trophy in extra time. With the rain teeming down and light fading the teams headed for the 19th, a par 5 , 489 meters at the Powerscourt West Course. It was Skerries Paul Byrne making a regulation par which decided the trophy.
