Powerscourt Coach helps young champion

Paul Thompson the advanced PGA coach at Powerscourt has also been involved in Irish golf development for over a decade. In his Provincial coaching with the Golfing Union of Ireland Paul has worked with many fine young players including Shane Lowry (European tour winner) Nile Kearney (walker cup) and many players who have gone onto to play international or provincial golf or indeed have turned professional. Recently one of his students won the Munster Youths Amateur Open Championship. Despite being still only 17 Jack Walsh, who plays in the Castle Golf Club, has already experienced his fair share of success and he told Paul during his last coaching session he wants to continue to improve.

Paul commented “It’s great when one of your students wins something like this, you feel so pleased for them.” On working with elite type players the coach said “It is very interesting and sometimes it can be the smallest adjustment that can make a big difference, however I am not sure it replaces the fun and enjoyment you get from seeing a beginner or high handicap player do something really good for the first time.”

Full day Coaching (minimum 2 persons, max 4 persons)

Starting at 9.30am – 4pm  The full day will include 9 holes of playing golf, lunch and long and short game tuition.

Short game sessions (minimum 3 persons)

Over a 1 ½ hour period each session will cover a different aspect to our short game (putting, chipping & bunkers). Looking at the most effective technique and how we implement in our game. You can attend all 3 sessions or any individual session.

3 hole playing + range coaching session

Play 3 holes followed by a half hour coaching session on aspects best suited to your individual needs.
