Dead Aim with Golf Pro Paul Thompson

Dead Aim with Golf Pro Paul Thompson

This week Advanced PGA Professional at Powerscourt Paul Thompson provides coaching on ‘Dead Aim’ in 3 easy steps:

1. The shot is produced by body muscles.

2.  The body muscles receive their instruction and initiative from the mind.

3. The mind gets its inspiration from the eyes.

Therefore when aiming look attentively, not only at the ball but also at the objective point, i.e. the hole, the flag, a point on the fairway. This helps the eye to register to the mind what it needs to accomplish so the mind has a chance of instructing the muscles what has to be done.

Many golfers give a casual glance at the direction or area of play, they do not look attentively at a certain point within that area.

CONCLUSION

It takes time for the eye to adjust its focus.  The mind must be attentive to a certain thing if the eye is to focus on it.  The eye must be focused on the objective point if the exact location of that point is to be impressively registered on the mind. The mind will then have the necessary information to instruct the muscle senses to control direction and distance.
