Book Signing at Powerscourt Golf Club, November 17th at 11am
We are delighted to welcome Philip Reid to Powerscourt Golf Club on November 17th at 11am for a unique book-signing. Philip is the author of The Irish Majors which celebrates ‘the most glorious period in the history of Irish golf.
The success of Irish golfers since Pádraig Harrington’s first Major win in the Open at Carnoustie in 2007 has been phenomenal. Irish golfers have won seven out of 22 Majors between that victory and Rory McIlroy’s second career Major at this year’s US PGA Championship, a strike-rate matched only by the powerhouse that is the United States.
How did Ireland get from a position of glorying for so long in only one Major champion – Fred Daly’s Open championship win of 1947 – to the point where it has bred a succession of them? Without a doubt, this generation of Irish golfers has proven itself to be a golden one. Was it by accident, or design? How did a quartet of Irish players become world beaters?
In The Irish Majors Philip Reid has the inside track on these great victories, from Harrington’s three victories and the breakthrough Major wins of Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke, up to McIlroy’s most recent record-breaking PGA victory at Kiawah Island that reaffirmed his position as the world golf’s hottest property.
We hope you can come to the book-signing and look forward to seeing you there!
